Suspects Nabbed in String of Odenton Car Thefts: Police

Anne Arundel County Police are reminding residents to always lock the doors of their vehicles after numerous thefts.

ODENTON, MD — Authorities reminded Odenton residents to lock their vehicles after three suspects were arrested Thursday for a string of thefts from cars.

Anne Arundel County Police said numerous thefts from vehicles were reported last month in the Piney Orchard Community. In each incident the vehicles that were targeted were not locked.

Officers were called about 3 a.m. to the area of Winding Stream Way on a report of suspects pulling on car door handles to get inside vehicles.

Detectives reportedly found three suspects inside a vehicle with numerous stolen items that matched with victims of several recent vehicle thefts.

A search by police of a residence in the 300 block of Highland Drive in Glen Burnie turned up property stolen in previous car thefts.

The suspects were each charged with six counts of rogue and vagabond and six counts of theft of less than $1,000. Those charged are:

  • Atiba Emmanuel Merrill, 24, of the 300 block of Highland Drive in Glen Burnie
  • Candace Leshee Bracely, 18, of the 300 block of Highland Drive of Glen Burnie
  • Antoine Malik James, 20, of the 2600 block of April Dawn Way in Odenton

More charges are pending, police said.
