Water Usage Restricted In Crofton, Severn, Jessup and Maryland City

Four Western Anne Arundel County communities are under voluntary water restrictions while a water main break is repaired, officials say.

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Four Western Anne Arundel County communities are under voluntary water use restrictions while a water main break is repaired, officials say. Crews from the Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works are repairing a 36-inch water main at the Crofton Meadows II Water Treatment Plant. While work is ongoing, the county has issued a voluntary restriction on outdoor water use for public water customers in the Crofton, Severn, Jessup, and Maryland City areas.

The voluntary restrictions will be in place until 12 p.m. on Friday, June 30, and are necessary to ensure that adequate water supply and pressure are available for basic customer services and fire protection.

Until the voluntary restrictions are lifted, public water customers in these areas are asked to limit water usage. Residents are asked to avoid:

  • Watering lawns, gardens, plants with a free running hose or sprinkler
  • Washing vehicles or equipment at home
  • Washing down paved areas, patios, parking areas, sidewalks, or decks
  • Fillling or topping off home pools, ornamental fountains, artificial waterfalls, and reflecting pools
