2 Carjackings, Homicide: Owings Mills, Reisterstown Crime
Two carjackings, one homicide and burglaries were reported in Owings Mills and Reisterstown in recent weeks, police say.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — Recent crimes reported in Owings Mills and Reisterstown include two carjackings, a cutting and a handful of burglaries. A homicide in Owings Mills is also under investigation.
Both carjackings happened at night — between 7 and 10 p.m. — and the victims were women. One was on Mill Run Circle and another was on Hollington Drive, according to authorities. In the latter case, police said the suspects pulled up behind the victim in a vehicle.
In early October, the Baltimore Police Department issued a warning about nighttime carjackings reported in residential areas of the city and surrounding counties. Suspects were described as multiple young men with guns, sometimes arriving in another vehicle. They may block a vehicle in, crash into it on purpose or park nearby before the carjacking. Typically, two to five suspects demand cash, keys, cell phones and other valuables before leaving in the victims' cars.

Police offered these tips to prevent becoming a carjacking victim:
- Call home first; have someone turn on the lights and wait by the door when you are arriving.
- Stay alert — have keys readily available when approaching your vehicle.
- Do not be distracted by electronics.
- Comply if you are a victim, then call 911 to report the crime.
Here are the crimes police reported they responded to between Oct. 1 and Oct. 19 around Owings Mills and Reisterstown:

One person was arrested after a cutting in the unit block of Milkwood Court at 5 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15. The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening and the victim refused medical attention, police said.
An apartment was burglarized in the unit block of Hartley Circle between 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, and 2:25 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The apartment was ransacked, and money was taken.
A carjacking occurred in the 10100 block of Mill Run Circle at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12. Police said the carjacker hit the victim on the head as she was trying to get into her car, then stole the vehicle.
Police said a homicide is under investigation in Owings Mills after a man was killed Monday, Oct. 12, in the 9200 block of Christo Court. Dwayne Edward Elliott III, 25, of the 2700 block of West North Avenue, was found fatally shot in his vehicle after 6 p.m., police said.
An apartment in the unit block of Sugarbury Court was burglarized at 9:20 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8. Officials said the suspect smashed the sliding door then stole cash and other items.
A woman was carjacked when she pulled into a parking space in the 5000 block of Hollington Drive at 9:41 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3. Four people pulled up behind her, including one who showed a firearm and ordered her to surrender her belongings. Her phone was taken, and one of the suspects left her vehicle.
A residence in the unit block of Bitterroot Court was burglarized at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2. The suspect damaged furniture, then took paperwork and electronics.
