Baltimore Beltway Crash Involves Salt Truck: Police

An Owings Mills woman is seriously injured following a crash Monday on Interstate 695 involving a salt truck, police said.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — An Owings Mills woman is being treated for life-threatening injuries Monday night after a crash on Interstate 695, police said. The collision occurred at 8:08 p.m. on the inner loop of I-695 near Park Heights Avenue, according to Maryland State Police.

A woman from Owings Mills was found unresponsive, according to police, who said she had been driving a red Nissan Rogue. An ambulance took her to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries, police reported.

For unknown reasons, officials said the woman had driven around a State Highway Administration-contracted crash attenuator truck that had a directional arrow pointing traffic away from the lane. It was behind another state highway-contracted vehicle: a Peterbilt truck laying salt brine.

The Rogue hit the salt brine truck, police reported. The driver of the Peterbilt truck laying brine was not injured, according to officials.

The Rogue ended up in the far right lane, police said.

At 11 p.m., police said that State Highway Administration officials were continuing to assist with cleanup from the scene.
