Baltimore County Sending Extra Police To Synagogues
Religious institutions in Baltimore County will be on 'increased alert,' according to Baltimore County government officials.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Police will be on "increased alert" at all religious institutions in Baltimore County after a deadly attack at a synagogue in Pittsburgh on Saturday, Oct. 27. The situation mirrors what jurisdictions around the country are doing in response to what has been classified as a federal hate crime in Pittsburgh.
Authorities said that Robert Bowers of Pittsburgh opened fire at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh's Squirrel Hill neighborhood around 10 a.m. on Saturday, killing at least 11 people and injuring six others.
"Officers are increasing security around our synagogues as a precaution in light of Pittsburgh tragedy," Baltimore County Executive Don Mohler said in a statement before noon on Saturday, Oct 27.
