Charla Melvin Disappearance: Police Say Body Found, Car Missing
Investigators say they believe they have found the body of missing woman Charla Melvin.
BALTIMORE, MD — Officials say they are "confident" that a body found in southwest Baltimore City is that of Charla Melvin. The Baltimore County Police Department has been looking for Melvin for the past week.
A body found in the 2300 block of Hollins Street Saturday, Sept. 14, is believed to be that of Melvin. As of Sunday afternoon, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner still had to positively identify her but police said in a statement: "Investigators are confident that the body is of Charla Melvin."
Melvin, 50, of the 3700 block of Twin Lakes Court in Milford Mill, died from sharp force trauma, according to the Baltimore County Police Department. She had last been seen Saturday, Sept. 7.

Police said they suspected Melvin was the victim of foul play after the body of her cousin, Thomas Davis Jr., was found Sept. 10 in Baltimore from what city police later determined was suicide. The body of Davis was located across the street from Carver Vocational Technical High School, WMAR reported.
Melvin's vehicle remains missing, according to police. She had a black 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe with Maryland plates 3CR7429.

Her vehicle was last seen in west Baltimore in Baltimore City, Col. Rob Mccullough, commander of the criminal investigation division for the Baltimore County Police Department, said at a press conference in Milford Mill Wednesday, Sept. 11. Officials were canvassing the neighborhood for clues that day in her disappearance.

- Saturday, Sept. 7 — Melvin was last seen.
- Monday, Sept. 9 — Melvin's family reported her missing.
- Tuesday, Sept. 10 — Melvin's cousin was found dead in an apparent suicide in Baltimore City. Baltimore County police issued information about Melvin as a missing person.
- Wednesday, Sept. 11 — Foul play is suspected, Baltimore County police said at a press conference about Melvin near her home in Milford Mill.
- Saturday, Sept. 14 — After a body was found in southwest Baltimore City, county detectives were called.
- Sunday, Sept. 15 — Baltimore County investigators say they believe the body found was Melvin. They are still looking for her vehicle. Baltimore City police issue lookout for the vehicle.
