Adat Chaim invites the community to a special Evening of Sephardic Music at 7:30 on Saturday, February 11th. The evening will showcase the wonderful guitar and voice of Rabbi Shuviel Ma’aravi, accompanied by Joshua Polak on the mandola. The program commences with the traditional Havdalah service marking the conclusion of Shabbat, which also will feature the unique melodies of the Sephardic tradition. Light refreshments will be served.
Rabbi Ma’aravi received his rabbinical ordination from Rabbi Nechemia Goldberg and formerly served as the rabbi of Etz Chaim Sephardic Congregation in Indianapolis, Indiana. His avid interest in folk music from his youth drew him to the folk and liturgical music of the Sephardic community, as well as the strong tradition of spiritual music among the Chassidim. Now living in Baltimore, Rabbi Ma'aravi is engaged in a variety of activities with the focus of making prayer and Torah study more accessible to those seeking a spiritual path. His musical partner, Joshua Polak, also proudly claims his own Sephardic heritage, and is well known in local music circles as a performer and the proprietor of Guitars of Pikesville.
Adat Chaim proudly offers this exciting and unique musical evening to the larger community without charge, but urges your reservation to ensure adequate seating. You can contact Adat Chaim with your reservation or for more information by calling the office, 410-833-7485, M-F, 10:00-2:00 pm or via e-mail at adatchaim18@juno.com.
