Creating a path for the cross country team trail and facilitating travel between Jemicy Upper School classrooms and its new athletic field sparked this fall’s bridge project, an undertaking of the Woodworking 3D Design class. Accomplished in 4 weeks, the project required an understanding of basic bridge truss construction, as well as

The 15 students involved in the project brainstormed, designed, learned to use tools safely and effectively, created a sturdy prototype, produced the parts of the bridge and foundation, and finally installed the bridge, which measured 12 feet long, 3 ft wide,and spans a 6 foot gap.
