Jemicy School Writing Award Honors Teacher's Memory

5th annual Linda Conner Writing Award goes to junior Patrick Ahlgren.

Sam Farmer, Jemicy Upper School English Department chair, recently presented the 5th annual Linda Conner Writing Award to junior Patrick Ahlgren, a student whose writing has demonstrated an exceptional and unique quality of creativity and imagination.

Linda, a beloved Jemicy teacher, passed away in the fall of 2011. The award, was established as a meaningful and fitting way to acknowledge Linda’s passion, and it honors her talents as a remarkable teacher, whose effectiveness will benefit her students for a lifetime.

Linda truly engaged her students and made the learning process exciting and fun. Her love for written expression was contagious, and from her, her students learned the tools and gained the confidence to become creative, confident, and successful writers.

Linda made a tremendous impact on the Jemicy community during her years at the school. She was warm and approachable, qualities that endeared her to students and colleagues alike. Many looked to her for mentorship, and her wisdom and compassion made her beloved by all. She is greatly missed.

We are certain Linda would have enjoyed working with Patrick, and that she would have enthusiastically agreed with his selection for this year’s award recognition. Congratulations, Patrick, on your excellence in writing!
