McDonogh School Assault Allegations Lead To Investigation

Baltimore County police and McDonogh School personnel have reportedly taken measures to address an alleged assault.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — An alleged assault at the McDonogh School is under investigation, according to reports. The private school with an enrollment of nearly 1,400 serves children in prekindergarten through 12th grade. More than 100 students board there during the week.

The investigation centers around "a very troubling situation involving several upper school students that is profoundly disappointing and unacceptable," according to a letter from McDonogh Headmaster Charles W. Britton, published by WBAL.

After learning of the situation last week, the school contacted authorities, conducted an internal investigation and has taken disciplinary actions, Britton said in the letter.

A spokesperson for the school in the 8600 block of McDonogh Road told The Baltimore Sun that McDonogh does not comment on situations involving students as a matter of policy and to protect student privacy.

The Baltimore County Police Department did confirm to the Sun that it was investigating the alleged assault.
