Former Raven Acquitted on Felony Animal Cruelty Charges
A Baltimore County judge found former Baltimore Ravens defenseman guilty of misdemeanors including neglect.

Former Ravens defender Terrence Cody has been acquitted of felony animal cruelty charges, court records show. He was reportedly convicted of several misdemeanors, including failing to provide adequate care of an animal and drug charges.
Cody, 26, who lived in the 12400 block of Old Grey Mare Court in Reisterstown, was indicted on 15 charges in February, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

The charges stemmed from an investigation by the Baltimore County Police Department after the death of the NFL player’s dog.
Cody’s dog Taz died of starvation over the course of one month and was feeding off trash and bones at the end of his life, when the normally 100-pound mastiff weighed 50 pounds, the prosecutor for the Baltimore County’s state’s attorney told The Baltimore Sun.

According to the Associated Press, Cody’s attorney said that the dog was not intentionally abused but had been neglected.
Cody’s girlfriend was also reportedly found guilty of five counts of neglect/failing to care for an animal.
Court records show Cody will be sentenced on Jan. 5 in Baltimore County Circuit Court.
In addition to failing to provide adequate care for an animal, Cody was reportedly found guilty in court Tuesday of two drug charges connected to items found in his home.
When Baltimore County police reported that Cody was under investigation for animal cruelty over the winter, the Baltimore Ravens announced plans to terminate his contract, which was set to expire in March.
