Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect For 11 Maryland Jurisdictions

BREAKING: Wind gusts of up to 70 mph are possible, the National Weather Service advises.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for parts of Maryland until 11 p.m. on Monday, May 1. Damaging wind gusts and hail are possible, according to the watch.

Included in the watch area are Allegany, Baltimore, Carroll, Charles, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George's and Washington counties as well as Baltimore City.

Wind gusts of up to 70 mph are possible and so are isolated instances of hail up to 1 inch in diameter, according to the National Weather Service.

A severe thunderstorm watch means conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms. Also under the watch are parts of Virginia, D.C., North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
