Suspect Charged In ICC Stabbing Of Reisterstown Man: Police

The Reisterstown man was stabbed while riding in a truck blocking the suspect during rush hour traffic, police said.

A man has been arrested in the stabbing of a Reisterstown resident on the Intercounty Connector (ICC) last week, according to Maryland State Police.

Ronald Paul, 49, of the 9000 block of Moonshine Hollow in Laurel, was arrested at a residence at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23, and is being held without bond at the Prince George's County Detention Center, police reported on Tuesday.

Paul is charged with attempted second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, possession of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure, concealing a dangerous weapon and disturbing the peace.

The charges stem from an incident on Wednesday, Oct. 18, on the ramp from the ICC to Interstate 95 north.

According to police, Paul stabbed a Reisterstown man who was a passenger in a white Chevy Silverado on the ICC as the man was on his way home from work.

The Silverado was on the exit to northbound Interstate 95 around 3:30 p.m. when the suspect, later identified as Paul, tried to pass traffic by taking the right shoulder, authorities reported.

The Silverado driver moved into the shoulder to block the gray pickup truck from getting by, at which point Paul allegedly ordered the victim to get out and when he refused, opened the door and tried to grab him.

Police said the passenger turned his legs toward Paul to try and defend himself when Paul pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the leg. Paul allegedly spit toward the driver of the Silverado and drove away.

Authorities reported that the victim and driver of the Silverado took down a partial tag number and provided a description of the suspect, leading police to identify Paul in the investigation.

The Maryland Coordination and Analysis Center, Motor Vehicle Administration, Prince George’s County Police Department, Maryland Transportation Authority police and EZ Pass assisted in the investigation, according to Maryland State Police.

Paul is slated for a preliminary hearing in Prince George's Country District Court on Nov. 20.
