Towson Under Winter Weather Advisory
Baltimore County opens cold weather shelter, advises drivers of potentially hazardous conditions.

With snow on the way, the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the Baltimore-Washington area, including Towson.
There are 1 to 2 inches of snow in the forecast, which will fall Monday night through Tuesday morning.
During the advisory period—4 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday—precipitation may cause travel difficulties. Check Baltimore County road conditions and state roads and highway closures.

Highway crews started Monday putting salt brine on roads, which prevents the snow and ice from bonding to the pavement.

State transportation officials said drivers should delay their travel plans if there is moderate or heavy snow during rush hour Tuesday morning.
Snowfall will be heaviest from 6 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service reports.
The following areas are included in the winter weather advisory: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties; the District of Columbia; and parts of Virginia.
Temperatures are poised to plummet for the rest of the week, dipping below freezing Tuesday and remaining that way until Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
The Baltimore County Freezing Weather Shelter will open Monday night and stay open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each night through Friday, Jan. 9. Call 410-853-3000 and select option two for information.
