Man Dies From Hillendale Fire: Officials

The 33-year-old man injured in the Hillendale apartment fire has died, according to authorities.

PARKVILLE, MD — A man has died as the result of an apartment fire in Hillendale one week ago. The fire broke out in the 7700 block of Hillendale Road around 8:40 p.m.on Tuesday, Nov. 13.

Michael Anthony Carter, 33, of the 7700 block of Hillendale Road, has died, officials reported nearly a week later.

Officials said that the blaze began when a lamp fell and ignited combustible materials in the area.

Responding crews from Towson and Hillendale found Carter, who was unconscious, and smoke in the hallway, officials said. No other victims were in the building at the time.

Medics provided care at the scene and took Carter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, officials said, where he died on Saturday, Nov. 17.

Afterward, the Providence Volunteer Fire Company advised: "Take this time to make sure your smoke detectors are working and that you have an escape plan in case of emergency."
