Bradshaw Boy Scouts Give Back To Health Care Workers
Boy Scouts from Baltimore County treated health care workers to a car wash as a service project.
BRADSHAW, MD — Boy Scouts from the Kingsville area got out their sponges and squeegees to make things a little brighter for area health care workers over the weekend. Troop 877, which meets at St. Stephen Church on Bradshaw Road, held a car wash for staff at Upper Chesapeake.
"The weather was perfect, the boys worked very hard for 4+ hours and had a great time doing it," Scoutmaster Stephen Brown said. "It was an activity we could do outside, wear masks and work in small groups around cars."
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the scouts had been limited in their ability to participate in service projects.

"The boys were brainstorming about what we could do as troop for a service project to help the community that we could do while practicing social distancing," Brown said.

Health care workers have been "working tirelessly through the pandemic," Brown said, and the troop wanted to show gratitude and appreciation.

More than 30 workers had their cars washed by the members of Boy Scout Troop 877, Brown said. From Boy Scout to Eagle Scout rank, there were 18 boys who participated, he reported.
"One hospital staff member said it was the first time anyone has ever offered to do this for them," said Brown. "As you can see from the photos, the car wash was a huge success."

The drive took place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday in parking lot L at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air and was the result of a suggestion by Assistant Scoutmaster Brian Frist.
