Business Association Presents $1,000 to Calvert Hall Grad
Perry Hall resident Matthew Bosse said he plans to put the award toward expenses at the University of Maryland, College Park.

The scholarship was presented during a meeting at the senior center on Aug. 16. The funs will be used for books and school supplies as Bosse begins his freshman year at the University of Maryland, College Park.
"College is very expensive—there are a lot of little expenses that nobody ever thinks about, but they're there," he said. "Every little bit helps."
The business association funds the annual scholarship through revenue. The award is based on an application, letters of recommendation and an essay.
Lynn Richardson, business association president, said she and board members were impressed by Bosse's academic standing and sportsmanship.
Graduating with a 3.85 grade point average, he served as a team captain for baseball, basketball and volleyball at Calvert Hall. Leading up to high school, he also played recreational sports in Perry Hall and White Marsh and volunteered at the .
"We felt that his overall accomplishments were outstanding, he has commitment to community and family and his goals were clear. We are pleased to have awarded our scholarship to him," Richardson said in an email.
Bosse said he plans to take general classes this fall before applying to Maryland's competitive Robert H. Smith School of Business. He has signed on to play Division 1 baseball at Maryland next spring.
"I feel like [the community] has given a lot to me, and I'm really grateful for that," he said.
