Carnival Canceled At White Marsh Mall For Spring 2019

WHITE MARSH, MD — The Jolly Shows carnival will reportedly not be coming to White Marsh Mall this May. It was to take place from May 8 to May 19. A mall representative confirmed the cancellation of the carnival when Patch called Thursday morning.

News of the carnival's cancellation on Perry Hall Boulevard came after 26 juveniles were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct at Eastpoint Mall on Easter Sunday. At least 1,000 people were leaving the shopping center when fights were said to have broken out, prompting police to respond.

The Jolly Shows carnival was supposed to run at Eastpoint Mall from April 17 to May 5; but the day after the arrests, the mall posted a notice on its website stating: "The Jolly Shows Carnival will be closed for the remainder of the days scheduled at Eastpoint Mall."

Then the White Marsh Mall followed suit.

"...following the events last weekend, we decided against hosting the carnival here in the next couple of weeks," a spokeswoman for the White Marsh Mall told The Baltimore Sun Wednesday.

Tickets are still for sale to the White Marsh Mall carnival on the Jolly Shows website as of Thursday, April 25.

The carnival company operates in Virginia and Maryland. It has been hosting the event at the White Marsh Mall for years.
