Joppa View Principal 'Read His Heart Out'
The event was part of the National Young Readers Week.

In recognition of National Young Readers Week, the principal of Joppa View Elementary School read outside for the entire day, according to a statement from Baltimore County Public Schools.
While sitting in the grassy circle in the front of the school, Joppa View Principal Scott Palmer read from the first bell to the last as students listened and used their individual devices for activities that were an extension of the reading, according to the statement.
Palmer was “reading his heart out” to all 743 students at Joppa View Elementary to raise awareness about the importance of literacy, the statement said.

Called the “Principal Challenge,” the program is part of the BOOK IT! program sponsored by Pizza Hut in which principals nationwide compete to find unique, engaging ways to incorporate reading for the entire school day as part of National Young Readers Week.
At the end of the challenge, one elementary school principal will win 101 copies for the school’s library of the ninth book in the Wimpy Kid series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul.
