New Light Planned East of Perry Hall Middle

A new street light is planned east of Perry Hall Middle School, County Councilman David Marks announced. 

Baltimore County approved the installation near 4218 East Joppa Rd.—an area where vandalism was recently reported on utility boxes and where children often use recreational fields. 

According to Marks, the gap between street lights in that area was more than double its "optimal spacing" of 200 feet, with approximately 445 feet between lights near the Smith Avenue and Yvonne Avenue intersections. 

The light will be added to an existing utility pole by Baltimore Gas and Electric Company at no cost to the county. 

"This is an area frequented by many children and their parents who use the recreation fields at Perry Hall Middle and Elementary School," Marks stated in an email. "I believe the lighting will definitely enhance public safety."

New street lights were also recently installed nearby, along Ebenezer Road, at the request of homeowners.
