The business anticipates Health for Life White Marsh will open in the fall.

MPX Bioceutical Corporation, the parent company of LMS Wellness, reported Wednesday that in addition to the location in White Marsh, another one of its subsidiaries — GreenMart of Maryland — was given approval to open a dispensary in Dundalk, under the name Health for Life Baltimore.

"The Maryland medical cannabis market, with a well-defined regulatory structure and attractive marketplace competition, continues to be a focal point for MPX’s footprint expansion," MPX Chief Operating Officer Beth Stavola said in a statement.

Health for Life Baltimore will be at 6807 Rolling Mill Road near Colgate.

“With licensing approval, we expect that both facilities will be open and accepting patients by early autumn of 2018," Stavola said.

Maryland legalized medical marijuana in 2013 and the first dispensary in Maryland opened in December 2017. Currently there are more than 50 licensed dispensaries across the state.

Health for Life White Marsh and Health for Life Baltimore were two of a handful of dispensaries that received authorization to operate at the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission's July 26 meeting.

Conditions that people may be prescribed cannabis for include cachexia, anorexia, wasting syndrome, severe pain, severe nausea, seizures, severe or persistent muscle spasms, glaucoma, post-traumatic stress disorder and chronic pain.

The process for patients to obtain cannabis legally involves registering with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission and obtaining certification from a medical provider who is also registered with the commission.
