Medical Marijuana Stolen On 4/20 At White Marsh Mall: Police

Police said a stranger walked up to a man and stole his medical marijuana at the White Marsh Mall.

WHITE MARSH, MD — Police said that a man was robbed of his medical marijuana while at White Marsh Mall. The robbery occurred on April 20, also known as 4/20.

The victim was at the mall in the 8200 block of Perry Hall Boulevard at 6:26 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, when a stranger approached, according to police.

Authorities said the stranger reached into the man's pocket and stole his medical marijuana, then threatened him before leaving.

There was no further information about the robbery or the suspect.

Maryland legalized medical marijuana in 2013 and the first dispensary in Maryland opened in December 2017.

The process to obtain cannabis legally in Maryland entails registering with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission and obtaining certification from a medical provider registered with the state commission.

Conditions for which people may be prescribed cannabis include cachexia, anorexia, wasting syndrome, severe pain, severe nausea, seizures, severe or persistent muscle spasms, glaucoma, post-traumatic stress disorder and chronic pain.

Approximately 75,000 people in Maryland had prescriptions for cannabis as of November 2018, according to the Baltimore Business Journal, which reported the industry generated $96.3 million in its first full year of operation in the state.
