MSA: Perry Hall Elementary Schools Excel, Middle School Lags

Test results for Maryland schools were released Wednesday afternoon.

Good and not-so-good news for Perry Hall parents:

Local elementary schools met all of the federal requirements for math, reading and attendance, according to data released by the Maryland State Department of Education Wednesday afternoon.

But while excelled in reading and attendance, it failed to meet math proficiency requirements for students in the "Black or African American," "Free/Reduced Meals" and "Special Education" categories.

Although the school met each of these requirements in 2010, those categories must improve each year to avoid failure. In spite of the lag, the middle school was not "Identified for Improvement" by state administrators.

Data for high schools has not yet been released.
