PERRY HALL, MD — The northeast part of Baltimore County is getting a new elementary school, and the community is being asked for help. Residents are invited to submit possible names for the new school.
The school will be built near the intersection of Honeygo Boulevard at Joppa Road, according to Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) officials.
It is expected to open in September 2018.

"I'm anxious to hear from everyone as we select the perfect name for this school," said Charlene Behnke, principal of the new school, in a statement. "Perry Hall is known for its pride, strong families and amazing schools. We are excited to offer our community another great place to learn."
School name submissions can include the following, according to BCPS policy:
- Community, subdivision street, geographic area where the school is located
- Significant, distinguishable landmark to help find the school's general area
- Deceased, prominent person whose service impacted Baltimore County, Maryland or the U.S.
In an announcement about the search for a school name, BCPS noted there are "several prominent families" behind the growth of Perry Hall since its founding in the 1700s, and Honeygo Run stream is adjacent to the future school site.
The school system began accepting nominations this past Monday and will receive submissions until 4:45 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3. Submit names here.
The top two submissions will be sent to the superintendent of the school system, who will make a recommendation to the Baltimore County Board of Education.
