'No Threat' at Kenwood High School, Baltimore County Police Say

School was dismissed early out of abundance of caution, Baltimore County Public Schools officials reported.

Kenwood High School was given the all-clear from local authorities Friday afternoon following an hours-long investigation into a suspicious email and device, neither of which turned out to be credible threats, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

At approximately 5:30 a.m., school officials notified authorities that several staff members had received a threatening email, police reported.

When police arrived at the high school in Middle River, they found ”what resembled a pipe bomb outside the school building,” according to the report from police.

Students on buses to the school were diverted to Eastern Technical High School and dismissed at 9:30 a.m., according to WBAL, which reported a similar threatening situation occurred at the school last year.

Eastern Avenue in the area of Stemmers Run Road was closed during the investigation, according to ABC 2 News.

“A day-long investigation at the school has determined that the threatening email is spam that landed last night in the mailboxes of several Kenwood staff people,” police reported.
