Officer Amy Caprio Memorialized At Harford Humane Society

The officer who died responding to a call in Perry Hall now has memorials at the Humane Society of Harford County bearing her name.

FALLSTON, MD — A kennel and plaque were dedicated to Officer Amy Caprio recently at the Humane Society of Harford County. Caprio and her husband adopted their dog, Doodle, from the shelter in 2015.

Officer Caprio was hit and killed on May 21 by a teen suspected in a burglary case in Perry Hall, police said.

After her death, those who wished to make memorial contributions were asked to send them to the Humane Society of Harford County.

"To date, we have collected $27,269.75 in honor of Amy, as well as thousands of dollars in donations from our wish list," the Humane Society of Harford County reported this week. "We are humbled and truly honored to be a part of Amy’s legacy, and we will never forget her and the ultimate sacrifice that she made while protecting our community."

The animal shelter dedicated a kennel and memorial plaques to Caprio on Aug. 26.

"...we were honored to welcome family, friends, and colleagues of fallen Officer Amy Caprio," the Humane Society of Harford County posted on its Facebook page, "as we unveiled a plaque in her memory in our lobby, and one of our dog kennels named in her honor."
