Perry Hall Christian Run Fundraises for Technology
Event at Mt. Vista Regional Park raised an estimated $15,000.
Between and event, school fundraising runs are sweeping Perry Hall.
On Saturday, held its first annual at Mt. Vista Regional Park. More than 100 students, teachers and community members participated, raising an estimated $15,000. School officials hope to use the funds toward a new technology program.
"We wanted to do something different [from previous years], an event where families could be involved," said Chris Harding, chair of the school board. "It's not just about raising money, but also spending time with the community."
Completing the 5K, however, was no walk in the park, said student Josh Harding.
"It was fun, but it was hard. With the hills, there was a lot of up and down," Harding said.
His mother Susanne Harding agreed. "I wanted to walk a few times, but with everybody you know watching and cheering, I kept going," she said.
