Perry Hall Middle Students Draw Award-Winning Anti-Drug Artwork
Students submitted their artwork for an anti-drug contest in Baltimore County.
Two students at Perry Hall Middle School have been recognized for their award-winning artwork in a poster contest sponsored by the Baltimore County State's Attorney.
Kristina Bulacan, who is in the seventh grade, won second place in the anti-drug contest, according to a statement from Perry Hall Middle School.
Bulacan was invited to the Baltimore County State's Attorney's Office for lunch and to have her picture taken with State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger this week. She will receive a $350 prize for her submission, which says: "Life is Sweeter without Drugs," and will be part of a 2015 anti-drug calendar.
The award ceremony is tentatively scheduled for April 30 at the courthouse in Towson. Bulacan will not be the only Perry Hall representative there.
Artwork created by fellow seventh grade student Carly Lobus will be part of an official poster collage from the contest, Perry Hall Middle School reported. Lobus will receive a $200 award at the ceremony.

All of the monetary prizes were paid for with assets seized from drug dealers, Parkville Patch reported.
"[The] contest was devised to let students articulate their anti-drug/alcohol feelings and send a positive message to their peers about the dangers of substance abuse," the state's attorney said. "The use of these once illegally obtained funds to help educate our children is one of the most valuable ways to utilize this money."
