Perry Hall Teacher Named National Geography Fellow
The Perry Hall teacher joins an elite group of educators selected for the national fellowship program.

PERRY HALL, MD — A Perry Hall High School teacher has won a national honor. She was named a 2019 American Geographical Society Teacher Fellow.
Mrs. Allison Robinson of Perry Hall High School was recently selected for the American Geographical Society's Teacher Fellow program, which is a one-year professional development opportunity.
As a 2019 American Geographical Society Teacher Fellow, she will receive materials for educating students using open-source mapping as well as other special opportunities to support her teaching throughout the year, according to a statement from the American Geographical Society.

Robinson teaches AP human geography at Perry Hall High School and was one of 50 educators selected for the fellowship from across the nation.
"Mrs. Robinson joins a very exclusive group of the best geography teachers in the United States," Dr. John Konarski, CEO of the American Geographical Society (AGS), said in a statement.

Established in 1851, AGS is an organization for geographers dedicated to education and research.
Robinson will attend the AGS Fall Symposium at Columbia University in late November to train with other geography fellows and learn from executives of top geospatial companies as well as leaders in government, not-for-profit, and academia. The event will run Nov. 21 and 22 at Columbia University in New York City.
Robinson is a member of the steering committee for the Maryland Geographic Alliance. She was also selected as the 2018 Outstanding Teacher Adviser of the Year by Baltimore County Public Schools.
