The Search for the Perfect Prom Dress

It's mid-January and Megan McHargue, a Perry Hall High School senior, has not yet found a prom dress.

“Finding the perfect prom dress is really important to girls," McHargue said. "It’s an event that we’ll remember forever and we all have the desire to feel like princesses on that special night.”

While Perry Hall's senior prom at the Inner Harbor's Marriott Waterfront is still four months away, girls are beginning to search all over Maryland for the gown of their dreams. Some are buying their dresses online, while others have traveled as far as New York City to find a dress that no one else at Perry Hall will have.

Senior Vivian Truong traveled to Delaware to find her dress. “I bought an elegant black, straight gown with a Grecian, drape neckline from a Calvin Klein outlet in Delaware,” Truong said. “I don’t feel comfortable in any other color than black."

Prices vary greatly according to style and seller, ranging from less than $50 to more than $300. Dress-seekers identified the following stores as popular locations:
