Week 1:
In their first game of the season—Friday, Sept. 3—the Gators defeated the Joppatowne Mariners 24-7. The victory avenged a 2009 opening week 33-7 loss to the Mariners.
The win could serve as an early turning point for Perry Hall, as Joppatowne's only loss last season (13-1) came in the 1A Regional State Finals to Catoctin.
In the Gators' week one victory, running back Patrick Clemons carried the ball 14 times for 126 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Eric Latham added 65 yards on 13 carries and Robin Paguia had a rushing touchdown as well.
Quarterback Mike Debaugh turned in an admirable performance completing 13-of-33 passes for 73 yards. Using the team's new no huddle offense, Debaugh completed passes to seven different Gators receivers, including four to Jamal Craig for 21 yards.
Jake McQuay completed the team's scoring by converting all three extra point attempts and added a 23-yard field goal.
On the defensive side of the ball, Darius Johnson led the way with seven tackles, followed by Matt Ruthke with five. Tyler Wilson (four tackles) and Antoine Snyder each contributed a sack each and Quester Campbell added an interception.
