
A man known for his lifelong dedication to making Perry Hall a better place has died.
William J. “Buddy” Butt died Jan. 2. He was 93.
Butt was known as the unofficial “mayor of Perry Hall,” which he shaped throughout his life. He helped found the Perry Hall Improvement Association in 1945 and served as its president. In 1963, he helped start Perry Hall’s first library. In 1987, he helped start a business organization that is currently known as the Perry Hall White Marsh Business Association. He came from a family of farmers and ran a fruit basket business called “Pride of Germantown” from his home.

“When I leave this world, I want it to be a better place than when I came,” Butt said.
Butt leaves behind many relatives and friends, including wife Marie E. Klausmier Butt and daughter Wanda Streett, according to his obituary.

Service Information
Visitation will be from 2–4 p.m. and 7–9 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 5, at Lassahn Funeral Home, 11750 Belair Road in Kingsville. There will also be visitation at St. Michael Lutheran Church from 11:30 a.m.–noon on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
A memorial service will take place at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 9534 Belair Road in Perry Hall. Interment will follow at the St. Michael Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Memorial donations may go to St. Michael Lutheran Church.
