Cecil County Public Schools Make Weather Decision

Area was under wind chill advisory Thursday morning.

Public schools in Cecil County will be delayed two hours on Thursday, Jan. 8, according to Cecil County Public Schools, which issued this statement:

“Due to the extreme temperatures and wind chill expected [Thursday] morning, schools will open two hours late with a modified pre-K and pre-school schedule. Maintenance, operations, and food services employees are to report to work on time for their normal shift unless directed to do otherwise. Offices will open on time.”

The school system outlined the modified prekindergarten and preschool schedule:
Morning Session: 11:00 a.m.–12:50 p.m.
Afternoon Session: 1:50 p.m-3:30 p.m. (may vary slightly by school)

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory until 8 a.m. Thursday, stating that strong winds and cold temperatures could put people at risk of hypothermia and frostbite. People who must go outside should be equipped with gloves and hats.
