Today's riddle: What is full of holes but still holds water? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Debate Over New Baltimore Co. Sidewalks Grows: Report (patch.com) — Neighbors in a section of Pikesville are split over Baltimore County's plan to add 5-foot-wide sidewalks along Lightfoot Road between Carla and Old Court roads. Supporters say the project would improve walkability, while opponents, including a resident who launched an online petition, worry older homeowners will struggle to keep the sidewalks clear during bad weather.
2. Baltimore Co. Officer Injured In June Shooting Leaves Rehab (patch.com) — Pikesville residents are learning that Officer Paul Catalfamo, critically wounded while responding to a June 7 call about a man exposing himself on the Milford Mill Gwynn Falls Trail in Pikesville, has been released from rehab after two months. The suspect in the Pikesville trail shooting remains jailed without bond on multiple serious charges, with a court hearing still unscheduled.
3. Maryland sends two delegates to Miss America competitions in Florida (heraldmailmedia.com) — A 17-year-old from Pikesville, Aryani Odie, is heading to Florida to represent Maryland in the Miss America's Teen competition, while Bel Air's Gianna Romero competes for Miss America. Both women are highlighting advocacy projects, including Odie's work on invisible illnesses inspired by her experience with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
4. As Preakness moves to Sunday, the 153-year-old race could see first-time Orthodox attendees (jewishinsider.com) — Pikesville's Orthodox Jewish community, now centered a short walk from Pimlico, could finally attend the Preakness in 2027 when the race moves from Saturday to Sunday. Local leaders say the change may draw observant families, possibly even prompting kosher food stands at the track.
