Mullan Contracting building Military History museum at Boys' Latin School

New museum underway at Boys' Latin School of Maryland

The Mullan Contracting Company has been selected by The Boys’ Latin School of Maryland to construct the Boys’ Latin Center for Military History, an approximate 2,000 square foot project contained within the former school cafeteria on the Upper School campus. Mullan Contracting was also the general contractor for the school’s new 7,766 square foot Charles T. Bauer Student Commons building addition, which opened in 2015. Located on Lake Avenue in Baltimore, Boys’ Latin is the oldest independent, nonsectarian college-preparatory school for boys in Maryland. The all-boys educational institution was founded in 1844 and serves 625 students from kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Expected to be completed and dedicated this spring, the Center for Military History will contain exhibits and artifacts that present information on every war the United States of America has participated in, from the Revolutionary War to the present day. In addition to the exhibition gallery, the museum will also include offices, a library, and classroom and lecturer space.

Highlights of the displays include mannequins that will dressed and adorned to replicate the authentic uniform worn by United States soldiers in each conflict, as well as accurate gear and personal items. Special immersion cases, which will improve the visitor experience by placing museum-goers “inside a particular setting or environment” will be created to replicate a 1918 French farmhouse where U.S. soldiers interacted during World War I; a barn the Battle of Normandy that occurred during World War II and a snow scene from the Battle of the Bulge.
