St. Timothy's senior Alarin Carthan is among the inaugural cohort of high school students to be awarded the Fund II Foundation UNCF STEM Scholarship, valued at $20,000 over four years. Carthan, who is from Douglasville, Georgia, will attend George Washington University's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences in the fall.

The Fund II Foundation UNCF (United Negro College Fund) STEM Scholars Program was established this year to support a more robust STEM pipeline of the next generation of African American scholars, innovators and tech entrepreneurs. The ten-year initiative, made possible through a generous grant from the Fund II Foundation, is designed to identify and provide scholarship and academic support for a total of 500 talented African
