Lydia Frentsos, Churchill High School, Competes at USA Climbing Bouldering Youth Nationals

Lydia Frentsos competed at USA Climbing Bouldering Youth Nationals in Salt Lake City, Utah, ranking 22nd in the Nation among Female Juniors.

Lydia Frentsos, a Winston Churchill High School Senior, has been part of the indoor rock climbing competition scene for about 5 years. She is a member of the elite Earth Treks Team ET and qualified for USA Climbing Bouldering Youth Nationals last year (in Madison, WI), and again this year. Climbers must go through a series of local, regional, and divisional competitions in order to be invited to compete on the National platform. This past weekend (2/9-2/12) she competed alongside the Nation's best female Junior age group climbers in Salt Lake City, Utah, placing 16th in qualifiers, and advancing to the Semi Final round where she finished with an overall rank of 22nd. She was most proud to be one of just 8 females who "topped" the first climb in Qualifiers, surpassing some of her climbing idols! Lydia trains year round, competing in local, regional, and divisional competitions in both bouldering and sport climbing. She plans to continue climbing in college with the goal of making Bouldering Youth Finals (Top 10) next year!
