THE MARKET AT RIVER FALLS INTRODUCES COMMUNITY FIRST DAY

Potomac, MD – May 28, 2015) – The Market at River Falls (www.marketriverfalls.com), Potomac Village’s finest gourmet market for high-quality curated meats, premium seafood and sushi, the freshest produce, baked goods, prepared dishes and dozens of locally-sourced items, is pleased to introduce Community First Day.

Beginning June 1st, 2015, The Market will donate 25 percent of its sales from the first day of each month to a local food-based nonprofit organization. The monthly donation will focus on supporting local, food-centric organizations whose efforts fight hunger, promote nutritional education, support small farmers and fishermen and help the sustainable food movement in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

DC Greens (www.dcgreens.org), an organization that uses the power of partnerships to support food education, food access, and food policy in the nation’s capital, will be the first beneficiary of Community First Day.

“Community First Day is an exciting opportunity for our customers and us to help out some wonderful local organizations,” said Jimmy McWhorter, of The Market. “Having worked in D.C.’s food services industry for many years, I know the kind of difference these organizations can make. We are looking forward to June and getting started.”

The local vendors who provide their goods to The Market are enthusiastically supporting Community First Day, too. So far they include Cakelove, Firefly Farms, Firehook Bakery, Gordy’s Pickle Jar, Grayson Farms Beef, LaPasta, Soupergirl, Stackowski Cured Meats and Whisked.
