• WSSC Water seeks to join Department of Justice, EPA Potomac Interceptor lawsuit (bethesdamagazine.com) — WSSC Water is moving to join a federal lawsuit over DC Water's handling of the Potomac Interceptor sewer line collapse, which dumped sewage into the river near Potomac and disrupted local recreation. Emergency repairs are underway by Pennyfield Lock, just upstream from WSSC's Potomac Water Filtration Plant that supplies most customers' drinking water, with officials stressing long-term protection of infrastructure, costs, and water quality. 
• Six Auto Thefts, Two Robberies and Multiple Aggravated Assaults Included in August 19th Crime Summary (mocoshow.com) — Potomac residents should know three vehicles were reported stolen Wednesday in Montgomery County's 1st District, which includes both Rockville and Potomac, alongside an attempted commercial burglary on Rockville Pike. The countywide crime snapshot also details robberies, aggravated assaults, and additional vehicle thefts in Bethesda, Silver Spring, Wheaton, Germantown, and Gaithersburg, offering a clear picture of recent safety concerns across nearby communities.
• Deceased Beaver Tests Positive for Rabies at Seneca Creek State Park; Officials Unable to Determine if Same Beaver Attacked 10-Year-Old Girl (mocoshow.com) — Potomac-area families using Seneca Creek State Park should know a beaver that tested positive for rabies was found near Berryville Road by the Potomac River after a 10‑year‑old camper was bitten there. A mile of trail and river access near the swimming hole is closed while wildlife teams search for other sick animals, though other park sections remain open and officials say there's no sign of a wider rabies outbreak.
