Potomac Community Village Names New Vice President

Jill Phillips, named by the Potomac Chamber of Commerce as their 2014 Business Person of the Year, has been appointed a Vice President at local non-profit Potomac Community Village (PCV). Phillips, co-owner of the Potomac-based Squeals on Wheels Traveling Petting Zoo along with her husband, John, has been an active member of PCV for more than a year. Says Phillips, “I am inspired by the incredible work the volunteers of PCV are doing for the residents of Potomac. It’s an honor to work with an organization that supports those who would like to gracefully age in place in their own home while also having fun and making new social connections.”

In recent weeks, PCV members have toured the Kreeger Museum, taken free exercise classes, and listened to a speaker on organizing “stuff” so there’s more time to enjoy life.

Everyone is invited to attend PCV’s upcoming events: the Tuesday, January 27, 5 p.m. Happy Hour at Gregorio’s on Tuckerman Lane; the Thursday, Feb. 5, 10 a.m. Coffee at the Corner Bakery on Westlake Drive, and the next monthly meeting, on Thursday, Feb. 19, 7:15 p.m., featuring cardiologist Dr. Allen Nimetz.

Dr. Nimetz, who will speak on “Hold on to Your Heart! Here’s How,” is Medical Director of Sibley Hospital’s Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Chair of the Subsection of Cardiology at Suburban Hospital.

The February monthly meeting will be at St. James Episcopal Church, 11815 Seven Locks Road, in the downstairs Undercroft Room. Parking is in the back. All are welcome and admission is free.
