Potomac's Peel Fights to Make U.S. Amateur Cut

Living on the cutline of a golf event is never fun. But that is exactly what William Peel IV will be trying to handle for the third straight day Wednesday after returning to Erin Hills Golf Course to complete his second round of the U.S. Amateur.
Through 27 holes, the Potomac, Maryland native stood at 1-over par, a number just below the current cut line. This after an , which left him right on the edge of advancing.
After the stroke play competition concludes, the top 64 players will compete in a head-to-head match play competition to determine a champion, concluding with a 36-hole final match on Sunday.

Currently, Peel IV stands in an unofficial tie for 82nd place after enduring a long wait to finally tee up his ball. Players had to deal with a nearly four-hour weather delay as a thunderstorm passed through Erin, WI, on Tuesday.
Things were looking up for the Eastern Kentucky University senior to-be, after a birdie on the 440-yard par-4 12th. However, back-to-back birdies on the next two holes put Peel right back to place he’s been all week.
