Washington Balalaika Society presents "Flight of the Bumblebee" at Rockville's F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre

All honey and no sting, Flight of the Bumblebee is the latest concert from the Washington Balalaika Society, the largest Russian folk orchestra in North America. Featuring a program of Russian, Ukrainian and Gypsy music, Flight is a celebration of “wings, strings and musical things.” Two marquee talents will be accompanying the orchestra: Andrei Saveliev, a virtuoso of the balalaika, the triangular guitar-like instrument famed throughout Russia, and Tamara Volskaya, the “wizard of the strings” and master of the domra, a Russian lute. WBS artistic director Svetlana Nikonova will conduct.
