MCPS Announces Tuesday Schedule After Snow Day
After a snowstorm forced Montgomery County Public Schools to make adjustments, one school remains in limbo as others resume operations.
ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County Public Schools announced the district would resume normal class for Tuesday after bands of heavy snow moved into the area, complicating road and sidewalk clean-up efforts across the county.
One school, however, will remain closed until further notice due to a downed tree.
"Clarksburg Elementary School will be closed tomorrow until further notice," reads a Monday release. "There are access and power issues on campus due to a large downed tree."

As schools and offices resume their routine schedules, so, too, will before and after-school childcare programs.
"There are still several trees and limbs down due to heavy snow. Allow extra travel time on Tuesday, watch for potentially icy sidewalks and parking lots, walk carefully on untreated surfaces, and remind new drivers to go slowly. Please be patient, please be safe," the advisory states.

The weekend snowstorm initially had Montgomery County students going into school on Monday on a two-hour delay before authorities opted to close the doors due to heavy snow slamming the region.

A state of emergency was declared at the time by Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, activating coordinated responses from local governments, state agencies and federal partners to address the snow impacts and increase staffing for first responder crews.
As wet, heavy snow covered roadways, many drivers were urged to stay home or practice caution if they must be on the roads. The Maryland State Police reported that it received over 1,000 service calls, responding to nearly 350 crashes throughout the course of the snowstorm, which brought blizzard conditions to residents along the Interstate 95 corridor.
