MoCo Firefighters Assist In Massive Ijamsville Fire That Displaced Family
All occupants of the Frederick County home were safely removed by fire crews, authorities said. Five were evaluated for smoke inhalation.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Crews with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service team were dispatched early Tuesday to assist in a massive fire that displaced a family in neighboring Frederick County.
MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer wrote in an X post that six of the county's crews were dispatched around 4 a.m. to help clamp down on a fire that broke out at a two-story home in Ijamsville.

Sarah Campbell, the communications and administration manager with the Frederick County Fire and Rescue, told Patch that calls for a house fire in the 3000 block of Desmond Place were initially received about 3:55 a.m.

Firefighters encountered heavy fire from both levels of the home, prompting a request for additional assistance from Montgomery County fire crews.
While all occupants of the home were safely removed, five people were taken to an area hospital to be evaluated for smoke inhalation.

Campbell told Patch it took crews several hours to get the fire under control, and that first responders ensured hot spots and debris were handled correctly before leaving the scene around 10:20 a.m.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
