MoCo Man ID'd In Fatal Pedestrian Collision

ROCKVILLE, MD — The pedestrian who was fatally hit by a car over the weekend has been identified as a Silver Spring resident.

The Montgomery County Police Department announced Tuesday that Harry George Kazanjian, a 69-year-old from Silver Spring, had been hit by a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country minivan while crossing a major roadway.

The fatal collision happened Sunday near the intersection of Norbeck and Avery roads, where police had responded to the scene around 6:30 p.m.

The scene was investigated by Rockville City Police, Montgomery County Police and the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.

Preliminary findings by investigators indicated Kazanjian had been crossing Norbeck Road from Avery Road toward the eastbound shoulder.

"For reasons still under investigation, he was struck by the Chrysler, which was traveling eastbound on Norbeck Road through the intersection," police said in a release.

The driver of the minivan, who has not been identified, remained at the scene.
