• Maryland Starts New Police ID, Body Armor and Gun Dealer Reporting Rules Oct. 1, as a Broader Handgun Ban Awaits in January (centralrecorder.com) — Maryland's latest police and firearms rules are now in effect, changing how officers identify themselves, requiring body armor for field duty, and tightening reporting rules for gun dealers, with the rollout centered from Rockville. Residents should also be aware that a separate ban on certain machine gun–convertible pistols will begin January 1, 2027, potentially affecting future firearm purchases and regulations statewide.
