MoCo Rescue Eyes Mobile 'Pup-Up' Adoption Events (patch.com) — Rockville's Home At Last Sanctuary, founded in 2012 by Hal Horenberg, is planning mobile "pup-up" dog adoption events across Montgomery County and is seeking local businesses to host them. All adopters go through a detailed screening, and no dog is placed more than an hour from Rockville, keeping the focus on matching nearby families with the right pet.
   

2. Woman Dead, Child Injured In MoCo Pedestrian Crash (patch.com) — A woman has died and a child was injured after a pedestrian crash Monday night at Chapman Avenue and Twinbrook Parkway in Rockville. Police say the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating, while the Collision Reconstruction Unit investigates how the vehicle ended up on an embankment.

Breakfast links: Red Line closures still set to end September 7 (ggwash.org) — A developer says it still plans to build 60 homes in Rockville, despite concerns after students from Wootton High are moved to the new Crown High School. City leaders and neighbors worry about economic ripple effects but developers say they're lining up a new builder and expect the original plans to continue.

Poolesville High ranked No. 2 in state by U.S. News (bethesdamagazine.com) — Two Rockville high schools, Wootton and Richard Montgomery, both landed in Maryland's top 10 in new U.S. News & World Report rankings, giving local families fresh bragging rights. Poolesville took the No. 2 spot statewide, while several other Montgomery County schools, including Whitman and Churchill, also climbed or shifted in the standings.
