Patch Picks: Time for Ice Cream!

You can't beat a cold treat on a hot day.

Ice cream. The perfect treat for hot summer weather. Rockville has a number of stores that offer ice cream, Italian ices, frozen yogurt, frozen custard and gelato. Here are a few:

  • on Nelson Street sells homemade Italian ice, gelati, frozen custard and tropical smoothies. Call 301-545-1154 for their extended summer time hours.
  • on Rockville Pike is a self-serve frozen yogurt chain store that offers an assortment of flavors such as raspberry lemonade, Oreo, lychee, cake batter, red orange, chocolate and green apple. Call 301-230-9644.
  • on Hungerford Drive sells handmade island flavors. There are many flavors to select from including coconut, mango, lemon and lychee. The ice cream is served in waffle cones or cups. Call 301-217-5840.
  • on Muncaster Mill Road has ice cream, smoothies and milkshakes. If you want something to go with your ice cream, the shop also offers a variety of non-ice cream items including sandwiches and Asian dishes. Call 301-926-2669 for store hours and more information.
  • in Rockville Town Center sells frozen yogurt and toppings by weight. The store rotates the flavors so you have new options to explore often. You also can select from a large variety of fruit or dry toppings. Stroll across the street to enjoy the while you enjoy your treat. Call 301-838-2858.
  • The Cakery at King Farm Village Center opened on May 20 serving Gifford’s ice cream. Located at 402 King Farm Boulevard, their hours are noon to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and noon to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. They will expand their menu in the near future to include gourmet cupcakes, specialty cakes and wedding cakes. Call 301-355-8367.
