Rockville Woman Identified In Fatal 2025 Pedestrian Collision

Montgomery County police urge anyone with information about a fatal pedestrian collision in Rockville to contact investigators.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A Rockville woman has been identified as the pedestrian killed in a November 2025 collision that took place on Rollins Avenue.

Montgomery County police said in a Thursday release that 87-year-old Vipa Sankanung was fatally injured when she was walking across Rollins Avenue and was hit by a 2019 Honda Pilot.

The vehicle, according to police, was making a left turn from the southbound lanes of East Jefferson Street onto eastbound Rollins Avenue. The fatal collision happened Nov. 28, 2025.

Sankanung was pronounced dead at an area hospital after being taken from the scene.

The case is being investigated by the department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit.
