First responders encountered heavy fire conditions at the house and more firefighters were called to the scene.

The fire began in the garage, Piringer said, and may have been fed by fuel from a vehicle parked in the garage. Flames spread through the house to the second floor.

The fire’s cause has been ruled accidental and originated from a car engine.

Piringer noted this is the second house fire in 24 hours in Montgomery County. A fire in North Potomac caused more than $500,000 damage and sent a man to the hospital with smoke inhalation on Tuesday morning.
